'Holy Soap' was specially made for the Liduina theme year (Schiedam, 2015).
Holy Liduina born in Schiedam, was bedridden for much of her life. She was dependent on the care of others. Liduina was very sick and her body was already decomposing, while she was still alive. Although the worms thrived on her body and she also lost her intestines, her body did not smell. She even smelled very pleasant.
The 'holy soap' symbolizes this dissolution process. The soaps are reminiscent of bodily fluids; bile, blood, pus. This makes the soaps have a more sinister look. Not necessarily a soap that you would want to wash yourself with, despite the sweet fragrance. The soap may be best seen as a relic, hand tapped from the holy body of Liduina.
